This law is kind of confusing it says that the law protects a person who feels threatened but it also protects a children. Every time time I read the law it is not clear, so I think that's why some people use it to defend themselves when they are in the wrong.
I agree with you. The law does get complicated and people are over whelemed and often look for excuses instead of admiting their wrong, so they try and use this law as a way out.
